YOUR PLACE IN MILAN

APARTMENT

some useful info

  • Exact address: viale Monte Nero 62, 20135 Milano. The apartment is part of an apartment building, the access to the street is through a main gate, by the main gate there is a buzzer (among many) with the name Zaninoni-Clarari. The apartment is on the third floor and you can reach it using an elevator. The apartment is ca. 60 square meters and is an open space, though with glass partitions.
  • Car parking: it’s in the second courtyard and is marked with number 16.
  • Elevator: it has two doors. You have to close them both when you leave it or else the elevator will get stuck. Also, when you ride the elevator you have to wait for it to stop and make a clicking sound, or you will be stuck.
  •  Wi-Fi: the apartment has its own network, password at my guests’ disposal.
  •  Air conditioning: it is operated via remote control. You have to point it to the shaft under the ceiling and push the ON yellow button. A red led indicates that it is working.
  • TV: to access Sky channels turn on the set with its own remote and select channels with the Sky remote.
  • Garbage: in the closet under the kitchen sink there are two baskets, one for mixed garbage and the other for organic garbage. Please leave the garbage bags in the cans in the courtyards under the green canopy. Pleas differentiate among  mixed, organic, glass, paper and plastic.
  • Washing machine, oven and dishwasher:
    at your disposal.

•  Rules of the apartment  •

  •  It is important to respect the quiet of the building, especially at night.
  • Smoking is not allowed.
  • Important: The elevator has one outside door and two inside doors that you must avoid slamming and that you have to close carefully: if they remain open the elevator gets stuck.

NEIGHBOURHOOD

spots close by

  • Leaving the city: the easiest way to Milano Centrale railway station is tram number 9 in the Milano Centrale direction. It stops right in front of the main door to the building. The Station is the final stop, so no chance to get it wrong. Average time is 30 minutes. As an alternative you can take a cab walking 300 meters to the closest stand, located in Piazza Cinque Giornate. You can also call for a cab, either 024040 or 028585, price of the ride is about 20 euros.
To Milano Linate Airport the most convenient solution is bus number 73: its stop is on corso 22 Marzo just off Piazza Cinque Giornate, 300 meters from home: allow 30 minutes.
To Malpensa airport the cheapest way is to reach the Milano Cadorna railway station and to take the Malpensa Express, that leaves every 30 minutes. To reach Milano Cadorna you will need a cab (price should be about 20 euros).
  • Visiting the city: to reach Piazza Duomo, the heart of Milan, you can take an easy walk (it is a 1700 meter distance, 20 minutes maximum) or take the number 16 tram from via Bergamo, which is the third street intersecting viale Monte Nero which you will come across if you leave the building and go left. As an alternative you can take the number 84 bus, which arrives at Largo Augusto, 700 meters from the Piazza Duomo. Its stop is at the corner between viale Monte Nero and via Spartaco, the first street intersecting it that you find if you leave the building and go right.
  • Tickets for public transport: you can buy them from Bar Birillo, just out of the building on the right. It is open every day (except Sunday) from 6:30 to 20 and we find it a very good resource because you can also buy papers and stamps and have coffee or grab a fast meal.
  • ATM: the closest one are Intesa San Paolo (at the corner between viale Monte Nero and via Fogazzaro) and Banca Popolare di Lodi (corner between viale Monte Nero and via Anfossi).
  • Bycicles: the City of Milan offers a very good bike-sharing service. There is a dock 100 meters from our building, at viale Monte Nero 68. Instructions in English to access the service are on display. You can also download the free app BikeMi, which will show you the location of docks around town.
  • Shops: the most convenient supermarket is Carrefour Market in via Bergamo at the corner with via Morosini, 400 meters from home.  It carries everything and is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If you are looking for organic quality food, you can use a Bio c’Bon store at viale Monte Nero 72. At number 68 you will find Ortofresco, a good produce store.
  • Pharmacies: the closest one is practically in front of the house, on the other side of the street. At the corner with Piazza Cinque Giornate Farmacia Ferrarini is conveniently always open at night.
  • Restaurants: just out of the building on the right there is Ramen House which offers good value. Around the corner at via Spartaco 4 Taverna degli Amici specialized in grilled meat, a bit noisy but pleasant. Further up the same street (via Spartaco 11) if you are a wine lover it is worth trying Bottiglieria Spartaco. At the corner with via Fratelli Campi you can have good fish at the Sardinian restaurant Osteria La Cala (pricey, like many things in Milan).
  • Ice cream: lots of options (we are in Italy!) but we recommend Gelateria Alberto Marchetti at viale Monte Nero 73.
